Renovation & construction site rubbish removal
Renovation Waste Removal Melbourne, Rubble and All
From a strip-out skip-full of rubble to a single old bathroom suite, we remove renovation waste across Melbourne’s inner suburbs, Monday to Friday, with weekends by appointment.
Melbourne renovation waste clearance
Renovation waste removal Melbourne, done while the build keeps moving
Renovation waste removal in Melbourne means something heavier and bulkier than ordinary household rubbish: rubble, broken tiles, plaster off-cuts, old timber framing, concrete chunks and the kitchen or bathroom you just ripped out. Some people call it renovation rubbish removal, others call it construction site rubbish removal, but it is the same job. It’s Done is a Prahran-based, family-run crew that clears it across Melbourne’s inner south and east, and we service both DIY renovators and builders’ sites.
We handle the heavy, dusty, awkward stuff that you cannot bag up and put in a bin: bricks and broken pavers, old cabinetry still with its hinges on, cast-iron baths, vanity units, and skip-loads of timber off-cuts. Our crew does all the lifting and loading. You direct us to the pile and we get it out, whether it is in the middle of a gut-renovation site or stacked in a driveway after the tradies have left.
Pricing is by the volume we remove, not by weight or by the hour, which means heavy materials like rubble and bricks cost the same per cubic metre as lighter loads of the same size. You get an upfront quote before we start, pay that figure at the end, and the site is swept clean when we leave.

What we take
Renovation rubbish removal covers heavy building materials and stripped-out fixtures from both home renovations and construction sites. Common items we remove:
How renovation waste removal works
Three steps from first call to a clean, safe site, with no surprises.
-
Call (03) 9820 1927 or send the online form with a few photos of the waste pile. Rob reviews the load and gives you a fixed, upfront price, usually within a couple of hours. For builders and tradespeople, we can quote on a stage-by-stage basis so you know costs before each clearance.
-
We arrive at a time that fits around the build. Our team does all the heavy lifting and loading: rubble, bricks, old fixtures and bulky timber go straight onto the truck. You do not need to move anything to the kerb or be on site the whole time, just make sure we can access the area.
-
Once the load is on the truck we sweep the area clean and leave the site safe for the next trade. Back at base we separate metals, timber and clean fill for recycling before the rest is disposed of responsibly. You pay the price we quoted, nothing more.

Heavy, bulky and awkward: renovation waste we remove every day
Renovation waste is not like household rubbish. Rubble is heavy and dense. Broken tiles are sharp and awkward to handle. Old kitchen and bathroom fixtures are bulky and oddly shaped. Plasterboard and insulation are dusty and unwieldy. Most DIY renovators and many builders find that a skip is either not permitted on a narrow Melbourne street or takes up space that the build cannot spare, and that is exactly where we come in.
We remove all the material a renovation produces at any stage of the project, from the initial strip-out through to the final post-renovation cleanup. Our truck accesses tight sites, narrow terraces and inner-city properties where a skip simply will not fit. There is no heavy lifting for you, no coordinating skip delivery and collection, and no weighbridge surprises. A typical renovation waste clearance covers:
- Strip-out and demolition waste: broken plasterboard, old insulation, concrete chunks, bricks and rubble from walls and floors
- Timber framing and off-cuts: structural framing, floorboards, decking, skirting boards and all sizes of sawn timber
- Tiles, pavers and bricks: floor and wall tiles, broken pavers, clay bricks and any associated adhesive and grout waste
- Old kitchen and bathroom fixtures: entire cabinet sets, benchtops, vanities, basins, toilets, baths and appliances
We work with both DIY renovators tackling a single bathroom or kitchen and builders who need ongoing construction site rubbish removal across multi-stage builds. If you need a clearance at the end of one trade’s work so the next can start, call Rob and we will schedule around your build timeline. The site is left clean and safe when we go.

Common questions
We price by the volume your load takes up in the truck, not by weight. This is important for renovation jobs: heavy materials like rubble, bricks and broken tiles cost the same per cubic metre as lighter loads of the same size, so there are no weighbridge surprises. Pricing varies by load size. Send photos or call (03) 9820 1927 for a fixed, upfront quote before we start.
Yes. We work Mon–Fri 8am–5pm and weekends by appointment, and we schedule around your build so clearances happen when the site is ready: at the end of the strip-out, between trades, or at the final post-renovation cleanup. Call Rob on (03) 9820 1927 to find the earliest available time that fits the build programme.
Most renovation jobs cover some combination of strip-out rubble (broken plasterboard, bricks, concrete), timber framing and off-cuts, tiles and broken pavers, and old kitchen or bathroom fixtures. We also take post-renovation cleanup waste: leftover materials, packaging and general site rubbish. If you are unsure whether something is included, just ask when you call and Rob will confirm.
We cannot remove asbestos. If your renovation uncovers asbestos sheeting, pipe lagging or textured ceilings from before the mid-1980s, stop work and contact a licensed asbestos removalist before proceeding. We are happy to recommend one if needed. We also cannot take hazardous chemicals, paint (in liquid form), or tyres. Everything else on a typical renovation or builders site we can almost certainly handle.
We are based in Prahran and cover Melbourne’s inner south and east: South Yarra, Toorak, Hawthorn, Richmond, Fitzroy, St Kilda, Port Melbourne, Elwood and surrounding suburbs. See our service areas page for the full list. We work with both DIY renovators and builders across the inner ring.
Yes. Our crew does all the lifting and loading, so you do not need to move rubble, fixtures or timber to the kerb. We regularly work on narrow Melbourne terraces, units with no side access, and sites where there is no room or no permit for a skip. You do not need to be on site for the whole job, just ensure we can access the waste. We leave the area swept clean and safe for the next trade.
We separate and recycle as much as possible. Metals from old fixtures and appliances go to metal recyclers. Timber off-cuts go to timber recyclers where accepted. Clean bricks and concrete are directed to clean-fill recyclers. We divert over 35,000kg from landfill each year. General mixed renovation waste that cannot be separated is disposed of at a licensed facility.
Yes. It’s Done carries public liability insurance on every job, with the certificate available on request. We have been operating since 2008 and are a known, reliable crew for builders across Melbourne’s inner suburbs. We arrive when we say we will, do the job properly, and leave the site clean and safe. If you are managing a build programme, Rob can discuss a schedule across multiple clearances so there are no delays waiting on waste removal.
