Rubbish Removal in Balaclava
Rubbish removal in Balaclava is something Rob and the It’s Done crew do regularly, and the suburb has its own quirks. The dense mix of Victorian terraces, Edwardian homes and apartment blocks means a lot of properties have tight rear access or no off-street parking at all, so getting a truck positioned without blocking Carlisle Street takes local knowledge. Cafe and retail strip-outs on Carlisle Street need to be timed around trading hours. The older housing stock also tends to accumulate furniture and household goods in ways that larger bins just do not solve. We are Prahran-based and usually about 10 minutes away, so you always deal with a local team that turns up when it says it will.
Carlisle Street is a busy tram route and a clearway retail strip, with heavy kerbside rules and loads of foot traffic. Chapel Street and Balaclava Road are tram routes too. With so many units packed in, the rear lanes are narrow, driveways are few, and permit parking is competitive. There are council car parks near Carlisle Street, so we use those and plan the truck spot first. Then we carry your stuff out by hand. We do these runs every week, so it’s no trouble.
We handle the full range of household, office and commercial rubbish in Balaclava: furniture, whitegoods, mattresses, e-waste, renovation rubble, garage clear-outs and deceased estate cleanups. We lift and load everything, sweep up afterwards, and sort for recycling wherever possible. No skips, no trip to the tip.
Since 2008 we have diverted over 320,000 kg from landfill through our Prahran-based recycling and donation partnerships. Materials from Balaclava clearouts, including metals, timber, e-waste and reusable furniture, are all sorted and sent to the right facilities.

Rob and his colleague were efficient, friendly and very reasonably priced against all other removal providers. He was prompt to quote, organise a day and removed the items I needed gone. Highly recommend It’s Done Rubbish Removal! Thanks Rob & Mooch for the help. Nabi

Robert and his team did a magnificent job clearing a crowded house and five crowded sheds. Not an inch spared in any of the truck loads! Robert is a total professional and a pleasure to deal with. Note – just had Robert and the team complete another rubbish removal. This time all the waste from bathroom renovations. Same excellent service from start to finish. Very pleased.

Robert and his team completed some rubbish removal at a rental property I manage. He arrived on time (the next day!), completed all rubbish removal and charged a reasonable amount. He was very professional and offered a great service 🙂

Hard Rubbish Collection in Balaclava
City of Port Phillip
Balaclava falls under the City of Port Phillip, which provides four free hard waste collections per year for houses, and six for apartment buildings and units. Residents book online, selecting a preferred pick-up date from available slots in their area; collection days are typically your regular bin day. Items should be sorted into separate piles for hard waste and metal or e-waste, and each booking has a 2 cubic metre cap on hard waste. If your timing is tight, your load is larger, or your items fall outside what the council accepts, It’s Done can clear Balaclava rubbish when you call.
Can’t wait for the council collection?
Port Phillip hard waste slots follow your bin day schedule and may be weeks away. It’s Done clears Balaclava rubbish when you call, no wait, no booking window.
Rubbish removal in Balaclava: common questions
Yes. It’s Done is based in Prahran and you deal with Rob and the local crew directly, never a call centre. Call and we will sort a time that works.
You deal with Rob and the It’s Done team directly. We are a local, family-run business, so the person you speak to is the person doing the job.
We take almost everything: furniture, whitegoods, mattresses, e-waste, renovation rubble, office clearout items, garage junk and deceased estate loads. We cannot take asbestos, hazardous chemicals, tyres or wet food waste.
Yes, tight access is something we deal with all the time in Balaclava. Victorian terraces often have no rear access and narrow hallways. We carry items out by hand if needed, and use smaller vehicles for streets where a full truck cannot park safely.
Balaclava residents get four free Port Phillip collections per year, which is genuinely useful if your load fits within the 2 cubic metre cap and you can wait for a scheduled day. Our service is available when you need us, handles any volume or mix, and we do all the lifting. When you need it gone today, call us.

Where possible, yes. We sort loads at our Prahran base and divert metals, timber, e-waste and reusable furniture to recycling and donation partners. We cannot guarantee every item will be diverted, but we make every effort.
We regularly service the surrounding suburbs including St Kilda, Elwood, Ripponlea, Elsternwick, Windsor and Caulfield, as well as all of Melbourne’s inner south. If you are nearby, just ask when you call.
